Thermal (Infrared Heat) Sensor
Follow the heat, find the source
A lost fox cub is hiding in the dark land. Tap a square: the drone with a thermal camera scans it and the square rises as high as its temperature. The closer you get to the fox, the hotter it gets. You only have 12 scans.
Every object gives off infrared radiation depending on its temperature. Thermal cameras can spot living things in the dark, even through smoke or fog. Firefighters find people trapped in fires, doctors check body temperature and rescue robots find earthquake survivors with this sensor.
The single-point MLX90614 and the 8×8 AMG8833 thermal array are often used in DIY projects. They easily detect human body heat of 36-39 °C.
Don’t scan randomly! First pick a spot away from the corners, then always move toward the HOTTER direction — rescue teams’ thermal drones track heat exactly like this.
